Compared to chiropractors, do medical doctors have work very hard to recruit patients for their business? In order for a chiropractor to be successful, he/she also needs to be a good business person. The chiropractors that do well financially are 1) business owners, and 2) really good at marketing and bringing lots of new patients into their practice. I was wondering if medical doctors also need to worry much about the business aspect of their practice, or if "having enough patients to treat" is something they never think about. Do MDs need to be business owners in order to make a decent living? Or do most of them function as employees?

Should osteopaths take the same exam as medical doctors in order to get licensed? In some states such as California, osteopaths do not have to take the same exam as medical doctors in order to get licensed. What states require osteopaths to take the same test as medical doctors since essentially they provide the same treatment as doctors and are allowed to do surgery? It is a well known fact that the grade point average of individuals admitted into osteopathic schools are on the average lower than individuals admited into medical schoos.. Wouldn't a requirement that osteopaths take the same exam as medical doctors to get licensed protect the public from treatment by individuals doing surgery that got into osteopath school after being denied into medical school due to too low of a grade point average?

We are medical doctors with a sincere desire to help people with pain. How do we best get our message out? Chronic pain affects millions of Americans every year. Most of them do not know where to turn for help. I am the director of a clinic that specializes in the treatment of chronic pain. Our clinic consists of well trained medical doctors that follow evidence based guidelines for the treatments we offer. Each year we provide real results to thousands of patients. Yet for every patient we help, there are hundreds of patients in our area that have never heard of us. Most of our referals come from other doctors but recently we have decided to take our message directly to the public. We have rented billboard space for the past several months with no results. We have also tried newspaper and magazine adds without results. I think the decision to go to a doctor is very personal and most people want someone that they can trust. This means they need a referal by someone they trust. How can we break through the trust barrier to reach these people who we know we can help?

Why do medical personnel not address acid body pH? Why are medical doctors not more educated on nutrition? Proper nutrition and other more natural treatments can be used to treat a lot of problems rather than just using drugs so often. There is a lot of research showing that cancer thrives in an acidic body, and cannot survive in a normal, more alkaline state. I've heard of too many doctors that refuse to admit that natural cures really work. I can't understand why they would refuse something that works, something that really helps. Is there a way to improve our health system?

Why do you as an individual or us as a society need Medical Doctors? Im looking for reasons why people appreciate, trust and need doctors...aside from the obvious that they physically take care of their patient. I was looking for other than the obvious...i am well aware that people need doctors in case they get sick, and everything else health related. Do you know of any fictional authors who are also medical doctors? I am going to proceed to a medical school sometime soon. I am very much interested to become a cardiologist. It was my very first ambition, and I don't want to waste the opportunity. However, I also have this passion in writing (blame Beatrix Potter. LOL.). Now I'm stuck between both worlds. I need some, ehem, inspiration. How is it likely to become a bestselling fictional author if you're a medical practitioner on the other hand?

I have been on antidpresseants for over 20 years and I have noticed since I am been on them my weight sky rockted yes it is not just because of the medicine. My question to you doctors, nurse practictoners, nurses etc is it true that the medications I take Lithuim and Melarill cause wieght gain and swelling and if they do what is a healthy way to lose the weight. I was 16 when I went on the medicine and stadily since that time I gave gained weight. Why do some people stay naturally thin and eat all they want but don't have medical troubles or weight gain. Is there such a thing as historical medical doctors? I mean doctors who study illnesses as they were before and can interpret what people suffered from or from what they died. For example, the daughter of Racine went to bed with a headache. When he checked on her, he found her on the floor, and her throat full of water, drowning. She was like a wet sack. They rubbed her with wine and forced some salt down her throat; she vomited a great quantity of water, then she was all right. The doctor who arrived later bled her and said that it was "suffocating catarrh", which happened because she did not blow her nose often enough! Is there a doctor who could have tried to decipher the symptoms? Or, my friend had bleeding because of infection, which was cured by antibiotics. What would have happened if the person lived three hundreds years ago? Would she die? Go on living and bleeding for the rest of her life? Are there doctors who can answer such questions? And where to find them?
Why do medical doctors need to know anatomy? Well, dumb questions normally get dumb answers; but in this case, assume it's not dumb and therefore deserves an answer.
Does anyone know where to find out about medical doctors and radiologist credentials? I got married May 19th 2007. After having an ultrasound conducted and visiting with a radiologist, My Husband is informed, he will likely need to have one of his testicles removed and of course the first thing a doctor says is to have it removed. I mentioned to have a biopsy done and the radiologist has seen cases like the one my husband has. I opted for my husband to get a second opinion on having the complex mass removed from his testicle My husband seems to want to take this radiologist advice/opinion as gold. I would like to get a second opinion. Goodness, it seems everything these days about surgery removal.

why dont medical doctors receive no nutritional training.? 2500 years ago, Hippocrates, the father of nutrition and medicine, laid out the following 10 rules, which have been largely ignored by the medical profession: 1. The natural way is the only way. 2. Treat the cause of an illness, not the symptom. 3. Look to the spine for illnesses. 4. Throw away your drugs and heal the people with food. 5. Most illnesses can be prevented by eating natural foods. 6. A healthy colon is essential. 7. Do not administer dangerous and harmful drugs. 8. Do no harm to your patients. 9. Do not perform surgery for money. 10. The word protein means most important. what makes me mad is: It is not profitable in this country for you to be healthy; it is profitable for you to be sick. Look around you and see how many people are taking pharmaceutical drugs and are still sick.

Training for medical doctors? After the medical institutions lost their case against training for medical doctors in UK. I personally think it’s wrong for British Taxes to be spent on foreign medical students in the UK. I think medical students should qualify in their countries and pass their exams, and became doctors before they apply for Jobs in the UK. I think British medical students should have priority in the courses and jobs in the UK. That way we will have more British doctors, and competition should only apply in medical jobs and not in training. What are your views on training for medical students? Should we allow foreign medical students for training in the UK?

Do medical doctors have a "black List" for patients they will not accept for any reason at all? I had a friend whose doctor refused to care for her anymore, but said they would transfer her records to another doctor, the new doctor she contacted took her information and said they would do some "research" and get back with her. This is the first time I had ever heard of a doctor's office saying this, usually they just say...so and so doctor is not accepting any new patients at this time and refer you to another one. Does the medical profession in general have some kind of database of "black listed" people who have had disagreements or bad experiences with doctors listing the names of people to look out for, something like a bad credit score would be on a credit report. Is there another source of information out there that has personal information about one that the general public is not privey to? Wouldn't this be a violation of the privacy act of some sort? Do they do some kind of private investigation or background check on you before they even know who you are?
Can medical doctors (M.D) do research? Hey all, I was just wondering if medical doctors are involved in medical research, or is it just doctors with a PhD? do medical doctors get addressed as "dr xxx" in the post? Just wondering if it is a proper title for medical practitioners or just an abbriviation. So do medical doctors get addressed in the post for example To dr. xxxxx Adresss etc etc
Why Med Doctors want us to get cured by medical stuff when they know medical stuff is soo expensive? Everything.. they just want you to take medicine or use medical services. I have a feeling is because they want to get our money. Instead of serving as advisors, so that we may seek out the best thiing and cheapest thing , thy always say that everything else is fake. Example, i've read many things where MEdical doctors say Herbs are not helpful. but why?? Why they say that. And why do that when they charge so much for their own solutions? They think we're rich or somethign? example , Ultrasounds, xrays, etc. Doctors always say we need that to get checked but those things coosst loads of money. I took 3 xrays and then i was left with a 500 dollar bill , it took me 5 months to pay. and plus it didn't lead to nothing cause to get treated for whatever they saw in the xray would cost more money which i don't have.
Do Scientologists accept that medical doctors can also rid a person of engrams without the need for auditing? A question was posted by someone who asked could Scientology cure their disabilities? A scientologist replied no, but a cure was often a bi product - meaning yes! He also said that psychosomatic conditions often fall away as result of Scientology IE that it cured them(they believe that engrams are the cause of such things which they rid people of through auditing). A medical doctor also believes in psychosamic conditions and they prescribe placebos(sugar pills - none chemicals) as a treatment and such conditions often fall away,ie they cure it. So both sides agree on such things exsist but just think what causes are different. So if doctors can cure such patients will sugar pills then that means that doctors must rid people of engrams that scientology claims cause such ills irrevent of wether the doctor believes in the engrams in the fist place? would scientologist agree with this fact? And if so, does that not make auditing just an expensive sugar pill?
Do medical doctors (Osteopathic D.O.s) feel frustrated when they have to describe they are basically MDs? -I will be attending a medical school (granting D.O. degree as opposed to M.D.). How much of it is a problem of patients viewing them not "real doctors" because the majority of the public only familiar with M.Ds? -Do residency programs look down upon DOs because DO residency programs are closed to MDs but not vice versa? -What is the general perception of DOs by their MD counterparts?
A question for Medical Doctors? I have experienced a bit of a personality clash with a few doctors when it concerns my children. If a Dr. chooses the medical field as his/her profession, why does that make (some of) them feel being a Dr. makes the rest of us less intelligent? As a parent, I (very often) accurately know the diagnosis of my child before I seek the legal authority of a prescription. Does that offend (most of) you? I feel like you should listen to me tell you what is wrong with my child and then make a diagnoses, instead of bickering with me over the knowledge I have of my own flesh and blood. If I have questions, and DON'T know what's wrong, I will clearly state that at the beginning of the consult, and interject when asked specific questions. I know not all of you are this way, but what makes those of you who are so arrogant? Respect the fact that I am the mother. Don't challenge my medical knowledge when you walk in the door, and I'll respect the fact that you are the Dr. by career choice. Here's ONE example... When my daughter was 2 years old, she awoke one morning with a gray coloring, and was cold and clammy. She was also very lethargic. I thought (through past experience in the medical field) it may have been low blood sugar. I called our (former) pediatrician to see if we had ever checked her blood sugar levels. He was immediately offended, and began telling me it must be something else based on what I was telling him, and to bring her in. She was also shaking very badly. I gave her 2 six-ounce boxes of apple juice, and two cookies. She began to feel better after about 10 minutes. I then gave her about 4 more ounces of orange juice. She then was alert enough to get into the car seat for the drive. Upon our arrival, I asked the nurse to check her blood sugar. It was 56. This was AFTER all the sugar she had just been given. The Dr. said it was a virus, and sent her home. I bought a glucometer, on my own, and the next am it dropped to 20. I was right.

Life expectancy statistics for nutrionists, life style gurus and medical doctors? Nutritionists, medical doctors, natural health gurus bamboozle us to no end about "omega-3 fatty acids..", "the surgeon general has determined.." , "triglycerides & HDL". I am sure, people so much into statistics, and with such genius expertise in the extraction of "control group" data must have amply documented over the past decades the SIGNIFICANT good that their carefully controlled life style has done for them. So, how much longer do these "control groups" live than you and I ?

Another job for medical doctors in OZ? Hi, I am trying to migrate to Australia. I am applying as a medical doctor but I am having problems with the IELTS. The medical boards in Australia require a score of 7 in every area, but in my last test I got: Reading 9, Listening 8, Speaking 7, and writing 6.Overall band: 7.5 I have no access to any English school because of the location of my actual job. So I have no possibility to improve my writing skills because I am studying English by myself. I wander if I a may apply for a different but related job in Oz, while I have the opportunity to go to an English institute to study writing techniques and take the IELTS again. I have to tell that because of my CV I have been offered a job as a Junior Medical Officer last year, but I was unable to complete the application because of me "failing" this test. It is there any way I can solve these? I don’t care to take another health related job meanwhile. Thanks

Are nurses too controlled by medical professionals, ie Doctors? I am required to do a debate at uni regarding the control of health care by the medical profession. My argument is that nurses are not too controlled by doctors/medical professionals because; *The introduction & growth of nurse practitioners. * Holistic nursing approach- focusing on the 'whole' person rather than just the problem & using different methods of care/treatment (Not always involving a doctor/medical professional) *Independant midwives practicing solo or in collabrative care with doctors. What are your views on my arguments??? Do they make a good argument or is there other points that I could use? Thanks
