Will there still be job opportunities for Pharmacists after six years?
I am going to do Pre-Pharmacy soon and I have researched this but will there still be good pay and openings for pharmacists six years down the line? I am worried that when and if I graduate Pharmacy school,am I going to be left with no options?

- The "baby boom" generation is aging. There is not only going to be opportunity, there is going to be DEMAND for medicines, nurses, doctors, ect. You will have MANY MANY options. Not to mention people are always getting sick and need medicine. More and more people born each year, more and more sick people...you get the picture :]
- You'll have great job options in 6 years, you'll be starting with a 6-figure salary, and better yet with a PharmD. Where I live, we're building a new pharmacy school just to try to keep up with the demand.
- Everyone is so desperate for pharmacists right now. I would imagine that it will be similar in a few years. I'm also thinking about pre-pharmacy, and I'm a pharmacy tech right now!
- People are always sick and in need of medication. So I would think not. Don't waste too much time worrying about the future, because the present will pass you by.
- No - there will be no jobs in pharmacy in 6 years. The human race will return to magic for healing, and pharmacology as we know it will cease to exist. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news - you may want to join a coven now. (cha! right!)
- There will be good job opportunities for Pharmacists in the USA for the next 25 years.
- Pharmacists are in VERY HIGH DEMAND! You'll have MANY job opportunities!!! Good career choice! Our local hospital will give an employee $5,000 JUST for referring a pharmacist. That's how desperate hospitals are for them.
- There are great jobs opportunities for pharmacists. However, the days of the owning a mom & pop pharmacy on the corner of Main Street are gone. Those pharmacies have been replaced by large chains like Wal-Mart & Costco. In addition to traditional pharmacy jobs in stores and hospitals, there's a great demand for Pharm.D at drug-makers (Phizer, Glaxo, Bayer), research institutes, and laboratories.
- There are a couple of positions that are always in demand: doctors, lawyers, vocalist, pianist, and priests. All of these roles are usually involved in birth, death, marriages and every other major event that costs something. Pharmacists will always be needed because the drug industry is way too profitable and always on the cutting edge of health improvement.
