How much do pharmacy tech and pharmacists get paid in a year?

Am I doing the right thing? Because I am starting out at a community college first and then I'm going to try to transfer to a university such as UOP, and go on with schooling to become a pharmacist. Is it going to take about 10 years?

  1. They get paid VERY well.
  2. Pharmacists make about $50-85K a year, depending on the city/state. Big difference between pharma tech and pharmacist, but pharma tech is a good step.
  3. techs don't get much!! maybe 10 dollars an hour, pharmacists get very good money! it takes about six years.
  4. I don't know about technicians but a pharmacist can easily make 6 figures depending on where they live.
  5. go to college get paid well ,dont go get paid ALOT less!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. yes it takes a while. but they do get paid very good!
  7. If it is what you really want to do than keep it up. The health care field is growing and can be very rewarding. I believe they can earn anywhere between 28,000 to 40,000 depending on where you live and who you work for. Good Luck!!!
  8. My friend's daughter just became a pharmacist and she started at $110 thousand annual salary. She told me all pharmacists start out that way. If you want to go that route, I think you should go for it! School is hard, but it's worth it. Studies show that people with certification and/or degrees earn more in a lifetime than people who don't go to college.
  9. pharmacists in the USA can get their license in 2 years. pays about $40,000, on up. More than one thinks it is a boring job- stuck in one room, no variety, only MUZAK, a lot of sick people for clientele, shift work at odds with company business plan, etc. Get into concrete artistry, sealers, stains, tile and special effects (World of Concrete.com), and make double that or more.
  10. My friend works for Kaiser as a Pharmacy Tech. and she told me she makes 14 bucks an hour. But my sister who's a NEW Pharmacist started with a bonus of 20,000, just for accepting a job, and is makin110,000 a year. It took her 4 years.
  11. Techs about $30-$40K. Pharmacists about $100-300K.
  12. Pharmacy Technicians make $10-$15 an hour. They don't make a lot. On the other hand pharmacists get paid excellent money. They make over $80,000+ a year. You can work at department stores or hospitals. The choice is yours. It usually takes 6 years to become a pharmacist.
  13. Well, in some areas there WAS a 6 year high school college Pharmacist program Generally Pharmacy school is 7 years. You shuld have contacted the American Pharmacists Assoication for details on the program Pharmacy techs make as little as $10, some make $15. You're looking at $19K to 25K Pharmacists make 50-90K
  14. it depends on where they live and work and how many hours they put in. Pharmacist tend to make a bit more than triple what techs do.
