What the hell is EVIDENCE BASED PRACTICE (for health care professionals)?

I look it up and end up with these huge definitions. Can someone tell me what it is in SIMPLE, easy-to-understand words??? THANKS!

  1. It refers to using treatments that have been proven through extensive systematic research to have the best statistical chance of success for a particular condition. So in simplest terms, using the most proven treatments to treat.
  2. The standard of practice used to treat a given ailment. So, if you have an injury, the standardized established medical practice might be to take an x-ray first.
  3. Any treatment that is not experimental but historically has been shown to be mostly or highly successful by using standard procedures. Insurance companies like EBP.
